HOW TO MAKE...
PADDED PICTURE FRAMES
You will need:
Wooden picture frame
Main fabric
Cotton batting
Multipurpose glue
Staple gun
1 Remove the back, mounting and glass from the frame. Using the frame as a guide, cut a frame shape in fabric allowing an excess on all edges for turning over the frame and batting to the reverse of the frame. To ease fitting, snip into the excess fabric at the four inside corners.
2 Cut a frame shape in cotton batting to fit the front face of the frame all round.
3 Apply glue to the front of the frame and press cotton batting in place. Put main fabric face down then wooden frame, also face down, on top.
4 Carefully lift the excess fabric on the outside edge to the reverse of the frame and staple in place. Repeat on the opposite inside edge and continue working around the frame, making sure the fabric fits evenly around the batting and frame (see below). If necessary fold the fabric over slightly at the inside and outside edges.
5 Replace the glass, add a favourite picture or memento and fit the back to the frame.
