Kintrye Gabbeh Rug
For AW08 we will be launching a more specialist rug called the Kintyre Gabbeh Rug. This stylish wool rug will retail for £450 for a 120x180 size and is a style of rug called a Gabbeh.
Gabbeh rugs are made using traditional, time-honoured techniques. The rugs are hand knotted using twisted woollen yarn, which has been dyed using special processes. The hand knotted process is more labour intensive and this is reflected in the price point of the rug.
The combination of the dyeing process and twisted wool creates a unique, softly mottled texture with subtle, random changes of colour throughout the rug. The variation in colour and design for each rug is a special characteristic of Gabbeh rugs and no two rugs will ever be the same.
We are initially buying a small quantity of this rug but if sales are good we will look at buying more as well as investigating new colour ways.
